Marion Carll Farm is a historic home and property located in Commack in Suffolk County, New York. It consists of the 1860 farmhouse, privy, garage, smoke house, milk house, horse barn and carriage house, sheep barn, and four smaller barns. Marion Carll left the home and property to the Commack UFSD.〔 ''See also:'' 〕 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.〔 In 2010 the Commack School District attempted to sell the historic Farm to Holiday Corp/Hamlet. The district residents voted it down primarily due to a very small turnout and lack of information. The district however continues to try to find alternative means to support the property as it has become a financial burden.〔Recently, the Board of Education released a request for proposals and welcomes any and all viable, financially verifiable proposals. The last date for submission of proposals is November 8, 2011. See www.commackschools.org for more information and a copy of the RFP (Commack Courier )〕 During an informational meeting the Peconic Land Trust 〔(Peconic Land Trust website )〕 and Suffolk County〔(Suffolk Co. website )〕 both expressed interest in acquiring the property and/or finding alternatives to building town homes on the of land. Given this purported interest, the District continues to welcome any and all proposals related to alternatives. As stated at numerous public meetings, given the cap on property taxes recently passed in New York and fully enacted in May 2012,it will be impossible for the District to continue to pay any costs associated with the property simultaneously funding the myriad of State mandated programs, educational and otherwise. The voter turn-out was actually almost 1,100 people and 700 voted no. The district did give only two weeks prior notice as far as the vote. Additionally, The mailer with the sale proposal was not received by the majority of district residents back in 2010 in a timely manner. The current RFP was unusual in that it required a non-refundable down payment without any indication of the amount. Hence no one responded. The district has never allowed public access to the Farm as deeded by the will. The costs associated with the Farm include not direct maintenance costs, which seem to inflate actual expenses. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Marion Carll Farm」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
